Chinese New Year

A couple of weeks ago we celebrated our first Chinese New Year with Charleigh. We invited some family over and dined on some interesting fare. Partially from recipes, and partially made up. Ok. I'm really not inventive enough to make up recipes. However I am creative enough to find substitute ingredients when I've forgotten to buy the proper ingredients.

For our celebration we had:

  • Tea Eggs
  • Szechuan Chicken
  • Pork filled Steamed Buns
  • Jasmine Rice
  • Green Bean Concoction aka Stir Fry Ginger Green Beans
  • Chinese Chews
  • Strawberry Cake

We had fun, relived some memories of eating steamed buns in China and laughed at each other trying to eat with chop sticks. I used the rice bowls I bought in Nanchang and the sushi set I bought at Eckerd. (But it was made in China, too.)

Happy Year of the Dog!
